In Yer Face create theatre and drama projects to help young people explore peer relevant issues.
Projects can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual client group and can be developed in direct response to a need. By using drama in a way that is accessible and credible, In Yer Face projects make learning entertaining and enjoyable.
Through positive, engaging experiential learning we are able to stimulate thinking and discussion on peer relevant issues so that young people are left challenged to make informed choices. By providing a safe and positive environment people of all ages and abilities are able to learn at their own pace and explore difficult and complex issues.
Projects can last from anywhere between 2 hour workshop sessions to week long residencies.
We do our utmost to liaise with partnership organizations to create projects which enhance or augment existing work going on.
Face the Camera
Face the camera is an innovative approach to issue based drama. Participants are led through a week residency of drama based workshops with an aim of creating a short peer relevant film.
The process of making the film enables participants an opportunity to:
- Create and storyboard a film
- Act on location for a camera
- Understand the process of film making
- Engage with a rehearsal process
The aim of the process is to use film as a medium to explore thinking on:
- Identity
- Self worth
- Peer influence
- Understanding feelings
- Consequential thinking
Face the Problem
Face the problem is a two hour drama based workshop aimed at using theatre and drama to explore issues. A typical session uses the actors to create specific scenarios faced by life-like, but fictional characters, encouraging young people to bring resolution to difficult issues. Using the process of applied drama, participants are then challenged to create scenes related to the issue.
Face the problem can explore:
- Prejudice
- Hate-crime
- Drugs
- Street crime
- Goal setting
Please note: All In Yer Face projects contain some reference to faith.
