What is Facefront
Facefront is an intensive week’s theatre summer school, developed by IYF to generate ‘Hard hitting theatre from hard edged youth’. Incorporating aspects of a rolling rehearsal process, theatre skills workshops, and active learning, ‘Facefront’ is arguably one of the best creative holiday week experiences available.
Under the guidance of IYF’s artistic director and professional actors, young people can expect tp lesarn all the skills necessary to produce theatre of the highest standard.
Content of the Week
Participants are led through a series of workshops aimed a developing the skills necessary for performance. As well as large group work, there is a focus on breaking into smaller groups, where participants, under the direction of professionals, are led through rehearsals towards a culminative performance at the end of the week to family and friends.
Workshops are aimed at developing:
- The actor and the voice
- The actor and movement
- The actor and script
- The actor in rehearsal
- The actor in performance
The performance
Participants are directed into short scenes as written in house by the company’s writer in residence. The theme of the show seeks to explore an understanding of the Christian faith, with the show performed on the Friday evening at the host church, under professional theatre lights, and sound, to an invitedaudience of family and friends of members of the cast.

How to book a Summer School:
We ask that the church finds a suitable space available for the entire duration of the week , in order to host a Summer School. The host church also needs to provide supervisory adults, who are CRB checked, on site.
